I grew up in Montana. The wild landscape, unpredictable weather and continually changing sky of the region were my first influences as an artist. At the age of 18 I left Montana, and have been moving about every two years since. Living throughout the United States, Asia and Africa has greatly influenced my art. I have generally worked in two-dimensional painting but have also created fabric prints, three-dimensional wood carvings and designed furniture. Along the way my approach has changed from realism to abstraction. For the last five years I have focused exclusively on creating abstract paintings using acrylic and collage.
